We use Autodesk's Architectural Desktop 2006® (ADT) primarily for its ability to catch errors and generally to ensure a more well-conceived design and well-coordinated set of construction documents. The 3-D model produced within ADT coordinates and automatically cross-updates various architectural drawings (floor plans, building sections, elevations). ADT draws schedule data directly from data stored within each door and space. Cross-referencing is automated so that call-outs follow the related drawing even if it is moved from one drawing sheet to another.
Building Systems Design, Inc. (BSD)'s Speclink® automatically writes specifications without sacrificing detail or project specificity. Automatic linking of specification sections minimizes coordination lapses among them. Reports provide lists of submittal requirements which can be used by both the Construction Manager and the architect’s construction contract administration personnel. |
